Description
The first "Hedgehogs" book was published in 1983, and was a bestseller. Its unique blend of humour and scientific observation proved to have enduring appeal and the book has reprinted many times. Much has happened in the last 20 years, which is included here: a worrying decline in hedgehog numbers, the North Ronaldsay saga and the Uist problem. New research has been undertaken on the success of rehabilitating and releasing hedgehogs to the wild and on the effects of slug pellets. The book also critically evaluates designer hedgehog homes. This expanded version also has completely new illustrations by Guy Troughton.
Reviews / Votes
"'...an inspiration to spur us to find out more about the complex world of the hedgehog' - Hugh Warwick BBC Wildlife '...an excellent new book by well-known student of hedgehogs, Dr Pat Morris' - Robin Page, Daily Telegraph '...a delightful book, both witty and practical, dealing with a creature we all know and love but understand too little about.' - Bournemouth Evening Echo '... Dr Morris's style is quite unpretentious: he writes in such a way that Hedgehogs will appeal to, and be understood by, a very wide age group indeed... I have no hesitation in recommending this fascinating book to anyone with the least interest in hedgehogs' - RSPCA Today"More details
