The Children's Activity Atlas

Introducing children to the skills and pleasures of finding out about the world through maps and symbols, this atlas explains, through text and supporting illustrations, the concepts of projection, latitude, longitude, symbols and scale. Each double-page spread is concerned with a different region of the world and the cartography uses proper symbols to identify main points of interest. For each region there is a world locator map, text giving information about the lives and cultures of the people of that region, a colour illustration and an activity section. The use of these activities encourages the reader to reinforce the skills learned in the introductory section. This atlas is designed to give children an awareness of other children's lives in other countries. It celebrates many cultures as well as supplying facts and figures on matters such as population, capital cities, longest rivers and highest mountains.
