Performing Arts Handbook

In the arts, professionals from different disciplines work together to create an event or artefact. This handbook aims to enable Arts GNVQ and Vocational A-level students to do the same. It covers all the mandatory units for the Performing Arts GNVQ, plus co-ordinated activities for GNVQs in media, art and design, business, and leisure and recreation. The handbook contains a series of activities that are structured around four ready-made frameworks that should enable students and teachers to work towards a play, video, musical event, or exhibition. The material has been developed by teachers and arts practitioners, to aid teachers to plan courses individually or together. Each activity is based on real-life scenarios, has clearly stated objects, resource lists, professional suggestions,and demonsrates how GNVQ requirements are met. Produced by practising teachers in conjunction with professionals from Arts Inform, the Arts Council of England, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the English National Opera, the Royal National Theatre, and Shakespeare's Globe, this handbook represents a combination of best practice in the classroom and profession.
