Dr Peter Morgan is currently Associate Dean - Education and Student Experience, at the Nottingham University Business School in China. He qualified as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language in 1992, and began his academic career in 1996, first graduating with a PhD in Occupational Psychology from - and subsequently working at - the University of Bradford School of Management. He led the development of the School's learning and teaching strategy as Learning and Teaching Coordinator, had responsibility for the development of academic staff as Faculty Development Coordinator and was on interviewing panels for administrative, academic and senior institutional appointments as a member of the senate.
He moved to China in September 2012, taking up the role of Associate Dean at the Business School in June 2013, and was the Director of Teaching for the Faculty of Social Sciences between October 2013 and March 2019. He is also Inter-Campus Quality Officer for the University of Nottingham, has worked on projects relating to interactive teaching and student transition and established the University of Nottingham Ningbo China's Teaching and Learning Conference in 2015.
As a passionate believer in the student experience and the importance of personal development, Dr Morgan has been developing and delivering skills development modules for undergraduate, postgraduate (including MBA) and doctoral students since beginning his academic career. He has delivered interactive and engaging workshops on study skills, personal transferable skills and employer selection methods to students in the UK, Singapore, India, China, the Netherlands, Malaysia and Israel; trained academic staff in Poland, China, India and Singapore on issues of educational pedagogy; presented at the Academy of Management and provided workshop sessions organised through the Higher Education Academy; and received institutional awards for his teaching work at both the University of Bradford and The University of Nottingham.
