Description
A synagogue is shot up in Montreal. A retired CSIS analyst working under a pen name begins pulling on a thread that leads from a radicalized student, through an illegal gun crossing the Montana-Alberta border, to a foreign intelligence operation targeting a Montreal AI company - and finally to a stateless European network with roots in the closing days of the Second World War.
Three investigators converge. None of them quite trusts the others. All of them know more than they say.
The novel's central question is not whodunit. It is: when you know something, what are you obligated to do with it?
