Description
When Vincent Calvino is hired by a retired Thai general to deal with a corrupt and deadbeat tenant, he finds himself swimming in deeper waters than he'd bargained for as he and the General narrowly avoid an assassination attempt... When the General suggests that he gets out of Bangkok for a few days, Calvino heads for the beach. Unfortunately, trouble follows him, in the form of a beautiful young Thai woman who falls to her death from the hotel room above his.
Back in Bangkok a pair of elite snipers is staking out a high profile target, a Thai politician running for election. But they're not really on a mercenary mission: they're 'paying back Jack', doing a favor for a man in need. Calvino, it turns out, is also tailing the same man, and as his investigation draws him into a murky world of private contractors, UN officials, and local politics, and he gets closer to his target, his run of bad luck goes from bad to worse...

Reviews / Votes
"'Plenty of violent action and some memorable low-life characters, but the real star of the book is Bangkok, which Moore, a long-term resident of the city, brings to vibrant, sleazy life.' Daily Telegraph 'Calvino is an engaging Bangkok P.I. who thinks he is about to smash a major Thai drug piracy ring when things start going pear shaped. It's a great introduction to the seamy side of Bangkok.' Daily Mail 'A vividly observed Bangkok is the setting for this first in a series about Vincent "Vinnie" Calvino, a disbarred American lawyer-turned-Thai private eye. Drug cartels, super-rich celebrities and a Shakespeare-quoting chief of police.' Sunday Telegraph"More details
