Reviews / Votes
"The book addresses the increasingly important role of management in strengthening extension institutions that support agricultural innovation, farmer capacity building, and rural transformation. At a time when extension systems are becoming more complex and pluralistic, the authors provide a systematic and well-structured exploration of how management principles can be effectively applied within agricultural advisory services. The text begins with a comprehensive discussion of the meaning, nature, and evolution of management thought and carefully connects these theoretical foundations with the operational realities of extension organizations. Concepts such as administration, supervision, planning, organizing, staffing, and coordination are explained with clarity, enabling readers to understand the managerial processes that guide institutional performance. The discussion on leadership, decision-making, and human resource management highlights the importance of professional competencies required for managing extension personnel and programs. By integrating classical management theories with the contemporary needs of rural advisory systems, the book succeeds in presenting extension management as a dynamic and strategic discipline rather than merely an administrative function."
