Henry Mitchell is the author of four novels , The Summer Boy, Between Times, Laurel Falls, and Slick Rock Creek, as well as two short story collections, Dark on the Mountain and Early Dark. Before he began writing fiction in his seventies, he worked for fifty years as a sculptor and painter. Mitchell lives in Saluda, North Carolina with his wife, Jane Ella Matthews, a Feldenkrais practitioner. Currently, he is working on a fifth novel, tentatively titled, The Winged Child. He says he will retire from writing fiction on his eightieth birthday and become a poet.
