Description
We prepared composts from different organic wastes (pine needles, paper mill bagasse, pressmud and sugarcane trash) by enriched technique and evaluated their impact on soybean crop and soil physico-chemical and biological properties of soil. Supplementation of enriched compost with chemical fertilizers was better than enriched compost alone. The addition of 50 per cent recommended NPK with enriched compost was equally good as 100 per cent NPK, however, enriched compost + 75 per cent NPK performed slightly better than 100 per cent NPK. Therefore, application of enriched compost @10 t ha-1 with 50 or 75 per cent NPK could easily save inorganic fertilizer to the extent of 25 to 50 per cent dose of recommended NPK for cultivation of soybean.
