He has done fungal inventories in places as diverse as Nunavik, Belize, Western Samoa, Nantucket Island, East Greenland, Honduras, a meteorite crater in northern Quebec, and the summit of Mt. Greylock in western Massachusetts. His book Fascinating Fungi of New England is the first ever guide to New England mushrooms. He keeps a post office box in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
