Description
This first monograph of work by architect Tatsuro Miki reflects his singular talent for designing spaces that embody subtle beauty, harmony, and proportion in close kinship with nature.
Through a dozen projects around the world-from New York to Tokyo, and Mexico to Qatar-architect Tatsuro Miki reveals his singular talent for designing spaces that embody subtle beauty, harmony, and proportion in close kinship with nature. Drawing on key aspects from his childhood in Japan as the son of an architect-restorer, along with his European education and global practice, Miki fuses a multiplicity of aesthetics and influences drawn from both East and West into his resolutely international architecture. With an emphasis on light, balanced proportions, and natural materials-both old and new-Miki's architectural works exude a fundamental sense of consonance and well-being.
This exquisite art book is a tribute to Miki's architectural quest-an ongoing pursuit that traverses diverse places and time periods-to shape spaces that resonate with the very heart of our humanity.

Tatsuro Miki (b. 1973, Tokushima, Japan) grew up in a restored minka house in Kyoto, an experience that deeply shaped his appreciation for traditional architecture and nature. At eighteen, he moved to Brussels to study architecture, later gaining experience in Paris and Belgium before co-founding Mood Architecture in 2004. His long-standing collaboration with Axel Vervoordt began in 2007, resulting in over fifty projects worldwide and the co-authored book Wabi Inspirations (2010), which explores timeless aesthetics and Japanese design principles. In 2023, Tatsuro established his own eponymous practice in Brussels, continuing to create spaces that unite Eastern and Western traditions with humility and elegance.
Foreword by Axel Vervoordt, an art dealer, curator, collector, designer, and author.
