Kostas Metaxiotis is an assistant professor at the University of Piraeus and has been the senior advisor to the secretary for the Information Society in the Greek Ministry of Economy and Finance since 2004. He has wide experience in knowledge management, artificial intelligence, object-oriented knowledge modeling, inference mechanisms, e-health, and e-business. He has published more than 70 scientific papers in various journals and conferences, such as the Journal of Knowledge Management, the Journal of Information and Knowledge Management, Knowledge Management & Practice, the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Management & Data Systems, and the Journal of Computer Information Systems. Dr. Metaxiotis is a member of editorial boards and a reviewer for several leading journals in the field and has been a member of the program committee for several international conferences. Since 1996 he has been participating in various European Commission (EC)-funded projects within Tacis, Phare, MEDA and IST programs as senior ICT consultant and manager. Since 2007 he has been serving as an external evaluator of EC-funded ICT projects.
