Gemma Merino won the prestigious Macmillan Prize for Children's Illustration in 2011, whilst studying for her MA in Children's Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. Her winning entry, The Crocodile Who Didn't Like Water, became her first published book and an international bestseller.Gemma has gone on to publish many more books with Macmillan Children's Books, including I Am Boo, The Sheep Who Hatched an Egg and Oscar's Book Prize winner The Cow Who Climbed a Tree. Born in Catalonia, Gemma originally studied architecture in Barcelona and has worked in practices in Spain, Dublin, Tel Aviv. She is now lives in Wales with her husband and daughter.
