Description
This is a concise yet thorough review of the diagnosis and treatment of many forms of psoriasis and covers current concepts in the ever-expanding field of psoriasis pathophysiology. Emerging concerns, such as systemic disease associations, quality of life, and psoriatic arthritis, are discussed, plus recent advances in basic science and clinical trial data. The book is of interest to all physicians with an interest in inflammatory skin diseases with systemic associations, including dermatologists in training and practice, candidates for post-registration qualifications, primary care physicians, emergency physicians, and senior medical students.
Reviews / Votes
This is a very good introductory book for diagnosing and managing patients with psoriasis. The concepts are explained well. The immune dysregulation that exists in psoriasis is easy to understand. Readers are not overwhelmed with the intricacies of every cytokine and receptor interaction involved. Nice color diagrams outline the proposed initiation of the psoriatic cycle in the skin. The genetic role is simply outlined without being pedantic. This is an up-to-date reference that provides beginning dermatologists with a good foundation for understanding psoriasis. (3 stars)-Patricia Wong, MD, Stanford University Medical Center, Doody's Review Service
