Survival at Sea

This study provides the reader with information on how best to survive at sea. The author looks at a number of problems a sailor may encounter at sea, from fire and bad weather to carelessness and lack of experience, and explains how to assess the problem and seek immediate solutions. He teaches the reader how to survive in a life-raft, how to catch and cook food, how to make drinking water from sea water and how to alert and signal passing ships. Additional chapters deal with medical emergencies, the importance of exercise and other essentials. The text also provides a listing of the essential kit all sailors should take onboard in case of emergencies, such as medical supplies, knives, pocket flares and string.
