Out of the Shadows

Gerda Taro was the first female photojournalist known to have covered a war from the frontline, and was the first to die in battle. She travelled widely through Spain during the Civil War, photographing troops, refugees, air raids and battles. This is the first biography devoted to her and contains a selection of her photographs.
