Fundamental work in the theory and practice of many key aspects of approximation is surveyed in this volume, based on a conference held at the Royal Military College of Science. Its emphasis is algorithmic, and both continuous and discrete approximation are addressed. Numerous contemporary aspects of the subject are treated.
