Sarah Martin is an Australian writer whose work spans children's picture books, young adult fiction, contemporary literary fiction, biography, history and short stories. She always wanted to be a writer, but it took a series of extraordinary events to jumpstart her career as a writer after twenty years as a secondary school teacher and ten as a fundraiser. She writes with clarity, restraint and emotional depth, drawing on both scholarship and lived experience. Her writing reflects a long-standing fascination with family connections, the natural environment and travel. She is drawn to small turning points; the quiet decisions and recognitions that alter the course of a life. She and her retired architect husband live in Melbourne. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.
