Description
Victim Impact: From Cold Case to Conviction in the William Reece Case delves into the gripping true story of a violent crime that occurred in a highly public setting and the long journey toward resolution that ensued. This uniquely victim-centered book offers an in-depth exploration of a mother's enduring struggle for justice following the abduction and murder of her daughter at the hands of a serial predator, truly humanizing victims and co-victims.
The book thoroughly investigates the crime itself, which was the subject of a recent Netflix documentary, and its context within criminological theory. It focuses not only on the events and law enforcement's painstaking efforts to solve the case but also on the profound emotional journey of the victim's family. Readers are exposed to detailed analyses of the troubling aspects of the crime, the pain of uncertainty, and the eventual cold case breakthroughs. Concepts such as the role of place in crime, cold case investigations, and the emotional turmoil of the grieving process are examined.
Victim Impact is ideal for advanced courses in criminology, victimology, policing, criminal investigation, and criminal justice. Furthermore, its emphasis on the psychological impact of loss and the legal processes involved in bringing a cold case to resolution provides practical insights for students of psychology, mental health counseling, and law.
