Description
Regression therapy is described in this book as "one of the most positive tools in the hypnotherapist's workbox". The author sets out to explain what it is, how it works and what can be achieved through it. With the use of case histories she describes different types of problems which can be overcome, what a patient can expect from therapy sessions and how hypnosis regression therapy has helped people in many walks of life. She also offers advice on finding a good hypnotherapist and counsellor. The difficulties commonly treated in this way include phobias, depression, anxiety, impotence, low self-esteem, guilt feelings, stammers and weight problems. The aim of the treatment is to "regress" the patient through hypnosis to the original occurrence of a problem and an examination of the circumstances involved, so that sufficient insight can be gained to prevent the past having a continuing effect on the present and future. The root cause may even lie in something which occurred in a previous life. Ursula Markham is a professional hypnotherapist, counsellor and stress management consultant, and has written several books.
