Description
The proceeding in this publication provided a forum for discussion upon the most recent research developments on waste stabilization ponds. The topics covered include: pond experience and design in both temperate and tropical countries; pond microbiology and physicochemistry; industrial wastewater treatment; tertiary ponds; activity within the pond benthos; macrophyte ponds; high-rate algal ponds; and the agricultural use of pond effluents for crop irrigation. Emphasis is also given to the public health aspects of effluent reuse and clogging problems with trickle irrigation systems.
