Description
This book explains the principles of physics in the context of applications to biology, medicine, and biochemistry. The main objective is to provide a strong background so that readers will be able to follow and understand the new developments in research and the basic principles involved in the new instrumentation used in these areas of science at present. The topics included cover all the fundamental Laws of Physics relevant to understanding how physics impacts biological sciences and the interaction between live organisms and the environment.

Person
Hector L. Mancini received his PhD from University of Navarre, Spain in 1994 Cum Laude with Extraordinary Prize and is at the present time Honorary Professor at the Sciences Faculty of the University of Navarre where he teaches basic physics to Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Telecommunication Engineering students. He has obtained the Honor Fellowship ("Beca de Honor") fourteen times, a distinction to professors of the basic cycle granted by free student voting.
Prof. Mancini was Chairman at the Physics and Applied Mathematics Department from 1996 to 2006 and at the Institute of Physics from 1998 to 2010. He obtained the "Europa Prize 2004" from the European Studies Center, Pamplona, Spain. From 1970 to 1991, he performed applied research on Gas Lasers Development and Population Inversion Mechanisms as an Electronic Engineer, designing and constructing almost a hundred units of different types of lasers and researching applications like Optics Communications or Holography. After that, he performed more basic research in Physics of Fluids, Non-Linear Dynamics, Spacetemporal Chaos, Synchronization and Control of Complex Systems and Pattern-formation in Fluids. He is co-author/editor of 10 books on research and teaching and author of more than a hundred research and scientific papers.
