Author
Ana Elena Mallet is one of Mexico's leading curators specialized in modern and contemporary Latin American design. She is especially interested in the crosses between contemporary art and design, as well as the relationship of both disciplines to popular culture. She has been curator of the Soumaya museums, the Carrillo Gil Art Museum and the Object Object Museum and has also been assistant director of the Rufino Tamayo Museum. She curated various exhibitions for museums in Mexico and abroad. Between 2010 and 2012 she led the curatorial direction of the "Destination: Mexico" project that took the work of 60 Mexican designers to New York City's Museum of Modern Art stores in New York City itself and in Tokyo. Since 2009, she has been directing and coordinating the Cultural Corridor Roma Condesa, which has already had fourteen editions. She also curated the MoMa exhibition Crafting Modernity-Design in Latin America 1940-1980.
