Echoes of an Autobiography

This is a collection of autobiographical reflections from the winner of the 1988 Nobel Prize for literature. The author considers the perplexities of existence, including his preoccupations with old age, death and life's transitory nature. A number of passages are devoted to the aphoristic sayings of Sufi literature, a unique contribution of Islam that has influenced much of his work.
