Jayanta Mahapatra lives in Orissa, where he has spent his entire life except for brief periods abroad. Gathered together in this volume are poems from earlier collections - "A Rain of Rites", "Waiting", "The False Start", "Relationship", "Life Signs", "Burden of Waves" and "Fruit". These poems have been selected by Mahapatra as representative of his life's work thus far.
