As a child, Michelle Magorian loved acting. She says, "I used to hide in our local theatre and watch new companies set up the scenery and the lights." Michelle once had a part as Paddington Bear, which meant she got to eat lots of marmalade sandwiches! Michelle loves writing too, of course, and was inspired by her mother's stories of nursing in the Second World War to write her most famous book, Goodnight Mister Tom, now regarded as a modern classic.
