The importance of reading is recognized in education and recreation. Libraries in schools and the public sector, as well as colleges dealing with teacher education devote time to the careful selection of a sound, comprehensive stock of childrens fiction. Author entries are arranged in alphabetical order throughout the book, and indexes provided by title, series, age-range and genre. Each entry consists of some background information, a stylistic and evaluative comment, literary agent where applicable, a list of that author's books with publisher, date and price, a suggestion of similar authors, sequels, related series and reader age range.
