This book isn't a 'how to' of school leadership. It's a 'how do'. How do this sample of school leaders approach Headship, and what have they learnt along the way? This book was never meant to be published. In fact, it originally started as my own private guide to leadership. I kept a notebook of the 'wise words' I heard in meetings, at conferences or in conversations. As I rose up the leadership ranks, I started to share a few of the comments with colleagues and in blogs: "a wise person once said to me...".
