Description
After the devastation of the French fleet at the hands of Nelson in the Battle of the Nile, the remnants of the French navy in the Mediterranean were forced into drastic measures to reassert control in a hostile sea. To fulfill the wishes of Bonaparte, a fleet under Admiral Linois, trapped in Toulon, must make a daring escape from the Mediterranean and reunite with the Atlantic fleet at Cadiz. Through the logbooks of the ships, memoirs of those present, and the accounts of those who witnessed it, Awash on Unfriendly Tides recounts the lengths Admiral Linois and his officers will go to in order to evad the Royal Navy for a few days more and the bloody minded determination of Admiral Saumarez to sink or burn them before they reached Cadiz.

Samuel MacAllister is an Irish mariner primarily working for Irish National Marine Services that provides marine support to the Irish film industry. On film sets he manages and operates a variety of vessels ranging from modern speedboats and yachts to Early Medieval Viking longships and military landing craft. Between film jobs, he works for the Archeological Diving Company as an archaeologist and historian specialising in the eighteenth century and Napoleonic periods, while occasionally branching out to another deep interest: the Late Medieval period. He is also an artist and miniature wargamer in his spare time.
