Description
Receptors are sites and system within the brain and central nervous system that act as links in the information processing chains. G-protein receptors (GPCRs), the biggest single class of receptors in biology, are the primary effectors of the senses of smell and sight. A large number of current drugs and addictive agents can block and/or mimic these GPCRs. This manual reflects the increased focus on approaches to ligand identification by emphasizing expression, rather than primary cloning strategies. Each contributor provides detailed protocols for executing various strategies and offers judgments as to what approaches are, and are not useful.
