Description
Robert N. Lussier and John R. Hendon's Human Resource Management provides a clear understanding of traditional HRM concepts and functions, as well as the current trends and challenges facing HR managers. Students are engaged with a wide variety of activities and tools that allow them to apply HR functions and concepts. Six types of high-quality applications and four types of skill-building exercises offer students the opportunity to hone critical thinking skills and HR management skills that they can utilize in their professional and personal lives. The book is structured around the Society for Human Resource Management's (SHRM) major HRM functions, which are clearly identified throughout the text.
Reviews / Votes
"I like the idea of taking the students to the next level by applying the concepts through critical thinking. I was impressed with the authors' presentation and style. I think the text reads easily for a student that is new to the discipline and it is not overly simplified for experienced students that are refreshing their skills. I am a visual learner and I like the charts and diagrams presented. The exercises provided give practical insight into everyday situations." -- Roxanne Roske "Beautiful layout invites reader interest-superb graphics, learning aids, self-assessments; excellent theory and research bases; excellent readability, with thorough explanation of terms and concepts; superior chapter on a difficult topic of performance appraisal." -- Larry K. Bright "The text is designed to work in sync with SHRM's curriculum, and it has some nice pedagogical tools included within and at the end of every chapter." -- Howard R. Stanger "[The authors] have done a great job of offering a variety of activities and setup. Also, there is so much practical application of materials that corporate HR uses. This is a really good chapter." -- Debbie L. Mackey "Excellent organization of the content, I like the use of the questions format for major headings . . . nice writing style." -- Frederick Tesch "I was most impressed with the ease of following the points the authors were making. The way they use headings and sub-headings in covering the information, and break the material into informational blocks, will be very helpful to the student." -- Gary R. Murray "Love the self-assessments! Few texts actually attempt to 'help' the students use what they learn!" -- Carol Spector "I like the structure and the approach of this textbook. It is more hands-on and will allow me to take my present course to the next level." -- Brenda Smith "[Chapter 8] is definitely one of the most creative, pragmatic chapters on performance appraisal of all the textbooks written." -- Jack N. Kondrasuk "I really like this text. It has solid content, it is very readable, and succinct." -- Barbara A. CrockettMore details
