Principles of Endosurgery

As endoscopic procedures rapidly change the many subspecialties within surgery, this book provides a basic understanding for these new techniques as they are being adopted by general surgeons and specialists as a means of reducing costs, morbidity and mortality. Previously used only in the realm of gynaecologic and gastroenterologic surgery, endoscopes are now being used for biliary surgery, nephrectomy, thoracic procedures, bowel and node resections, hernia repair and for a multitude of paediatric procedures. The editors run regular introductory courses in endoscopic surgery, and have structured this volume accordingly to discuss basic techniques, such as suturing and stapling, instrumentation and anaesthetic considerations, before providing a detailed view of the wide range of endoscopic procedures now possible because of advanced technology.
