Sapphy Lore is the pen name for millennial science fiction and fantasy writer woman who hails from the north side of Chicago. She is an empathetic third generation Trekkie who had thought she wanted to be a backstage theater nerd. Graduating in the recession didn't help, initiating an over decade long career in real estate. After a much needed career-change, she has been able to return to a passion she had since she was a little girl.
Much of Sapphy's fiction writing uses fantastical settings to explore how scarred characters heal through stressful change and unexpected opportunities. Her heaviest influences not only include traditional authors like Ursla K. LeGuin and Tamora Pierce, but writers for other mediums including David Gaider and Trick Weekes of Dragon Age fame, the brilliant writing teams for multiple Star Trek series from Next Generation through to Strange New Worlds, and even the team of Green Ronin Publishing who create engaging tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs). She is always looking for creative works with diverse perspectives and strong voices in any and all mediums.
Sapphy is married to Mystic, who cohosts the Lore Together podcast with her. They have one son who they bring to many of their nerd escapades. Outside of her writing and work for a local non-profit, she spends her free time enjoying story-driven video games, playing and running TTRPGs, and coloring while watching video essays for inspiration.
