Description
What constitutes an event? Propelled by this question, Sounding the Event encounters a variety of theories and in sounding them out hears of a host of issues that have implications not only for conceptions of nature and becoming, subject and substance but also practices of time, art and photography along with theory and its manner of speaking. It experiments with modes of speech and also explores dialogue in its writing and as it encounters the philosophical utterances of (amongst others) Michel Serres, Isabelle Stengers, Jean-Francois Lyotard, Deleuze and Guattari and Alain Badiou. Sounding the Event continues the author's commitment to the practice of writing as a visual artist and, as it proposes that 'to think' is an event, it also invites both listening and laughter.
