Description
Spatially-distributed systems are often large-scale systems, where a centralized scheme fails to realize an effective control. This thesis treats this class of systems in a distributed framework with dynamics defined on spatially-discretized subsystems, each equipped with actuating and sensing capabilities and interacting with nearest neighbours. Considered here are the identification and control of both parameter-invariant and parameter-varying models with application to a beam structure actuated and sensed by an array of collocated piezo patches. It shows that the distributed framework leads to efficient, LMI-based controller design and anti-windup compensator synthesis
