Die Geschichten werden ergänzt mit Vokabelanmerkungen und Übungen zum Textverständnis mit Lösungsschlüssel. Jedem Band liegt eine MP3-CD bei, der Text wird jeweils einmal in langsamer und normaler Geschwindigkeit vorgelesen.
Dieser Band gehört zur zweituntersten Schwierigkeitsstufe (Level 2), mit einem Kernvokabular von 500 Wörtern.

Das alte Haus der Familie Geng war seit vielen Jahren unbewohnt. Doch in letzter Zeit öffnen und schliessen sich die Türen des Hauses ohne dass jemand ein oder aus geht. Nachts kann man Stimmen im Haus sprechen und singen hören.
An einem dunklen Abend sieht Geng Qubing Licht vom Dachboden her scheinen. Er schleicht sich ins Haus und sieht ein hübsches Mädchen mit ihrer Familie auf dem Dachboden sitzen. Geng Qubing fühlt sich stark zu ihr hingezogen und ist fest entschlossen herauszufinden wer sie ist, woher ihre Familie kommt und weshalb sie in diesem lange unbewohnten alten Haus wohnen. Doch was letztendlich passiert ist ein Schock für ihn!
Die Geschichte is eine Bearbeitung einer Erzählung aus dem Liaozhai zhiyi, einer Sammlung volkstümlicher Erzählungen aus der Qing-Dynastie, viele dieser Geschichten befassen sich mit dem Übernatürlichem, wie Fuchsgeistern, die menschliche Gestalt annehmen können, und anderen chinesischen Fabel- und Geisterwesen.

About the story
The old house of the Geng family has been uninhabited for years. But recently the doors of the house open and close without anyone going in or out. And at night one can hear people talking and singing inside.
One dark evening, Geng Qubing sees light shining from the attic of the house. He slips into the house, and sees a pretty girl sitting with her family in the attic. Deeply attracted to the girl, Geng Qubing is determined to find out who she is, where her family is from, and why they live in his old house. But what eventually takes place is a shock for him!
Pu Songling (1640-1715) was a writer who lived in Qing-Dynasty in China. His masterwork Liaozhai Zhiyi was based on the many legends and fold stories that he had gleaned.
The text we present here is adapted from his story Qingfeng in Liaozhai Zhiyi. In premodern China, many people believed in supernatural beings, and popular imagination was haunted, in particular, by fox spirits that could transform into humans. Some of Pu Songling's stories such as Qingfeng are refined literary expressions of that aspect of popular imagination.
