Description
This work, starting from an exploration into the nature of literary experience and illustrated with examples, argues that the enterprise of literature-teaching should engage pupils in both creative and re-creative activities - such as art-making and expressive criticism. The examples are taken from workshops and seminars and from classroom experience. Students engaged in creative activities and literary criticism are encouraged to relate their activities to others and to themselves and it is this self-exploration / realization which may lead to future art-making or evaluative criticism.
