Description
Professional testing of software has become an increasingly important task which requires a profound knowledge of testing techniques.
The "International Software Testing Qualifications Board" (ISTQB) has developed a universally accepted, international qualification scheme, aimed at software and system testing professionals, and has created the Syllabi and Test for the "Certified Tester".
This book covers the "Foundations Level" (i.e., entry level), and teaches the most important methods of software testing. It is designed for self-study and provides the necessary knowledge to pass the "Certified Tester - Foundations Level" exam as defined by the ISQB.
Topics covered:
-Fundamentals of Testing
-Testing and the Software Lifecycle
-Static and Dynamic Testing Techniques
-Test Management
-Test Tools
It also covers more recent topics, such as test-first approach and risk-based testing.
From the foreword to the 1st edition:
"This book will provide you with a solid practical foundation for your work and study of testing. Software and system testing suffers from a serious gap between best practices and common practices. If you´re someone who is making a living from doing testing but haven´t gotten around to reading a book, why not start with this one?"
