Chen Li is regarded as one of the most innovative and exciting poets writing in Chinese today. With his wife Chang Fen-ling, he has translated over twenty volumes of poetry into Chinese, including the works of Sylvia Plath, Seamus Heaney, Pablo Neruda, and Tomas Tranströmer. The recipient of many awards, such as the National Award for Literature and Arts and the Taiwan Literature Award, he was listed as one of the "Top Ten Contemporary Poets of Taiwan" in 2005.
