Description
This collection starts in the 1980's when I was working at the Electricity Authority in my home state of South Australia. It was a formative time of my life. I was married to the love of my life and father of two young boys. But I was influenced by the tensions between my work environment and the natural world around me. It was a period when a mid-life crisis made itself felt. So my naïve poetry provided a form of release from my concerns about the state of society and the relentless onslaught on the natural world by population growth, housing sprawl and suchlike. It was a time when "Greenie" was a dirty word in conservative society. I felt like a hypocrite to both sides of the argument. Thank goodness we can now reasonably assume that everyone is a Greenie with the sad revelations confronting us about Climate Change.
Weekends at Macclesfield in the 2000's during the stressful days of running my own business provided a welcome respite and an opportunity for my concerns to unravel.
Finally, retirement to Macclesfield from 2014 brought an opportunity to think more about different styles of poetry and to try some of them out.

Brian Malcolm Lewis was born in England and emigrated to South Australia in 1950. He studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Adelaide and spent the first 2 years of his career working at the Weapons Research Establishment and then another 2 years working in Canada and USA on machine tool controls and pipeline telemetry systems. This was followed by a 17 year period with the Electricity Trust of South Australia after which he co-founded Flow Force Technologies Pty Ltd. This company developed and commercialised a range of impact weighers, bulk bag weighers, and samplers for the various bulk solids industries and successfully sold its products throughout Australia, and exported to USA, India, New Zealand, Dominican Republic, Russia, Philippines, Malaysia, Kenya, Mozambique and Senegal. He retired in 2014 to Macclesfield where he enjoys watching the trees grow, making biochar and writing about whatever moves him.
