Description
She was raised by a wealthy family in an American suburb. As a young adult, she starts to turn tricks in the parking lot of the local bar, catching commuters on their way home. Not because she needs the money, but because the money makes explicit what sex has always been for her - a loveless transaction. When a man takes her home to meet his wife, she stays and becomes hopelessly drawn into their dangerous web, eventually ending up in more trouble than she ever bargained for. She is abused by police, arrested and confined to a psychiatric ward for treatment. With Beth, her therapist, she developes a passionate affair, bringing her both confusion and revelation. When the husband and wife reappear, brace yourself for a shocking conclusion.
Reviews / Votes
?Heather Lewis has written this novel with a power and pain almost unbearable, like some freak ass despondent Jesus nailing herself to the cross again and again. This novel is a triumph - tragic, horrifying, and a triumph!? SapphireMore details
