Description
A series of three books written specially for the new competence-based city and Guilds Part 1 236-7 scheme. Electrical Installation Competences: Practical 1 contains exercises which will support students' practical and laboratory work skills. It provides guidance for students in completing the specific tasks found in centre assessment units 1, 2 and 3. The technical knowledge expected at this level is fully discussed in the companion book, Electrical Installation Competences: Science 1. Each exercise is backed up with clear illustrations. The first chapter covers preparation for work skills, including health and safety. Chapter two covers the basic installation practices - tasks relate to wiring systems, fabrication work, earthing and bonding, and testing and fault finding. Students are expected to refer to the IEE Wiring Regulations 15th/16th edition and the relevant supporting literature. Chapter three covers basic installation electronics, soldering and wire-wrapping techniques. Chapter four deals with laboratory work, and installation theory and electrical principles. These exercises help students understand the theory and science and give practice in writing reports.
Answers to all the chapter exercises are provided.
