Description
Anxiety is a common experience for those with eating disorders, often linked to food, body shape, weight, and social eating situations. Exposure therapy is a cornerstone of successful treatment, teaching clients to tolerate anxiety and related emotions without avoidance. Facing Eating Disorder Fears (FEDF) is a structured, evidence-based treatment program designed to help individuals with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, atypical anorexia, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder, to reduce anxiety related to eating disorder fears. This therapist guide introduces FEDF, a program that combines psychoeducation, skill-building, and exposure-based strategies to help clients face their fears safely and effectively. This book will guide the therapist through each session, providing structured exercises, scripts, worksheets, and handouts to optimize the therapeutic experience, and is designed to be used along with the corresponding client workbook.
