This is scholarship in the best sense of the word: politically engaged, theoretically and empirically informed, and powerfully argued. Complex yet comprehensible. The readings-from Karl Marx to Erik Wright-have been carefully selected and arranged. The strength of this book is the incorporation of non-class based inequalities-specifically race and gender. The inclusion of readings from the 'race, class, and gender' paradigm makes this book the most inclusive and expansive anthology available. -- Angela J.
