Description
"Never to be Told is storytelling at its finest." --Samantha Downing, internationally bestselling author of My Lovely Wife and Too Old for This
From Edgar(R) Award and Anthony Award-Nominated Author Audrey Lee
Desmond Harper is haunted.
He was abandoned by his mother as a teenager. His once-promising writing career has stagnated. His relationship with his son, Jude, continues to fracture. But nothing haunts Desmond more than the inability to remember his engagement party, a night which ended in the death of his fiancée, Ella. Nothing, except perhaps Ella's ghost. Desmond hasn't left the house since Ella's accident a year ago. He spends his days in conversation with Ella, hoping his roommate won't discover his secret. But now, Ella has begun to ask questions about what really happened the night she died. Memories begin to surface, bringing dark truths Desmond isn't ready to face. And some truths are far worse than forgetting. For readers who enjoy The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley, Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak, and Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera.More details

Audrey Lee's debut novel, The Mechanics of Memory, has received critical acclaim and was nominated for the Edgar(R) Award for Best First Novel, the Anthony Award for Best First Novel, and the Lefty Award for Best Debut Mystery. The audiobook was also awarded the IPPY Gold Medal for Best Mystery/Thriller.
Before she started writing fiction, Audrey received her master's degree in education from UC Berkeley (Go Bears!) and spent over two decades in public education. When she isn't writing books she consults with school systems about creating environments for students that are more equitable, culturally responsive, and socially just. Audrey lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and Maltipoo, Luna. She spends the majority of her time missing her son, who abandoned her for college. When not doing that, Audrey is compulsively organizing, watching her son's dance videos, max betting on a slot machine, and cheering for the Golden State Warriors with a dirty martini in hand.
