A Captive in Rome is the first book in the enthralling Tales of Rome series of adventures for younger readers. The books are set at the time of the early church and follow the adventures of Bryn, a young Briton of the Iceni tribe.
In this first book, Bryn and his brother are taken captive by the Romans after the Boudiccan revolt. They find themselves in Rome where Bryn is sold as a slave to a rich man; Bryn's brother, Conan, is forced into gladiatorial combat. Bryn is befriended by Tiro, a Christian and fellow slave, and they both try to free his brother from the deadly battles before it is too late.

Reviews / Votes
I am 7 years old and I just read this amazing book about a boy who has been captured and taken to Rome as a slave. It is full of adventure and I learnt a lot of facts about Rome. I enjoyed it so much that I've just started the second book in the series. * Amazon review * I enjoyed this book so much that I read it in 3 hours. Kathy Lee's books are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone. * Amazon review * I bought all the books in the series. My son (aged 11) said they were all very exciting and he read each one in a day. * Amazon review * The author is very good in how she describes Roman life. It's just like the things we learned at school. You can picture it all in your mind. -- Daniel, eight * Families First *More details
