Description
An invaluable anthology of children's poetry that gives a unique insight into the writer's craft.
Just how do poets come up with their ideas? Do their ideas come to them in a flash of inspiration or do they slave away for months or years? Edited by Canadian poet JonArno Lawson, this is an illustrated poetry book with a difference. A selection of verse from top contemporary poets - including Children's Laureate Michael Rosen, John Agard, Grace Nichols, Roger McGough and many more, including writers from the USA, India, South Africa, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - are annotated by the poets themselves, who explain how they arrived at the finished poem.

Reviews / Votes
Ideal for Key Stage 3 English literature classes and with well over 20 poems it certainly provides useful insights and tips for aspiring writers or students analysing verse. * Sec Ed * The poems are attractively laid-out, with a clear text and scratchy pen-and-ink illustrations that have a pleasingly 'grown up' feel. * The Guardian * It is gloriously produced , with curves for corners and a skin that thirsts for touch ... best of all, this book id distinctly not patronising. I wish I had it when I was growing up. * Belfast Newsletter Group and Verbal Magazine *More details
