Description
Julia Lawless promotes the aromatherapy garden as a means to health, well-being and enjoyment. Beginning with the ancient vision of the aromatic garden as an 'earthly' paradise, it contemplates the roles (medicinal, therapeutic and aesthetic) that scented plants have played throughout history and continue to play today. Featured gardens, which include the Chelsea Physic Garden and the author's own Gloucestershire garden, provide convincing proof of the beauty and benefits that aromatic gardens afford. The Plant Profiles guide you through the practicalities of cultivation, gardening, choosing a variety and uses. The Aromatherapy Garden has all you need to plan and plant your own aromatic sanctuary (whether it's the tiniest of fragrant borders, a hanging basket or a formal rose garden), as well as recipes and projects (from bath bags to poultices) that demonstrate how to use the herbs and aromatic plants you grow, to enhance your home, health, beauty and cooking.
