Mónica Lavín is the author of books of short stories, novels and essays. He has been awarded the Gilberto Owen National Prize for Literature for the book of short stories Ruby Tuesday no ha muerto (Ruby Tuesday has not died), the Colima Narrative Prize for his novel Café cortado (cortado coffee), and the Elena Poniatowska Ibero-American Novel Prize for Yo, la peor (Me, the worst), about Sor Juana and her time. His most recent publications are: the anthology of short stories ¿A qué volver? (What to come back to?) (Tusquets, 2018), the novels All About Us (Planeta, 2019) and Últimos días de mis padres (Last Days of My Parents) (Planeta, 2022). He wrote the libretto for an opera about Sor Juana: La sed de los cometas (The Thirst of the Comets), which premiered in September 2022. She is a columnist in the cultural section of El Universal, a professor and researcher at the Academy of Literary Creation of the Autonomous University of Mexico City, a Distinguished University Teacher from the University of Colima and a member of the National System of Creators.
