Description
Component Broker is a middleware product with a foundation based on CORBA. It is IBM's answer to Microsoft's Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS). Middleware is the glue that connects client/server systems or the slash (/) in client/server. It allows a large organization to build upon its existing mainframe applications, to connect different systems to each other, to dealerships worldwide, parts and services worldwide, to the web, and to their own Intranet or Extranet. Enterprise customers need to know about the products before they choose and this text focuses on large, industrial-strength applications. The CD-ROM contains all Java code and design patterns in the text plus try and buy versions of CBToolkit (part of Component Broker). The book includes: an overview of the different parts of Component Broker - CB Connector and CB Toolkit; how to develop business objects with Component Broker; how to work with existing business models like Rational Rose to design distributed applications with Component Broker; how to programme design patterns; how Java, JavaBeans, and ActiveX fit in; debugging business objects.
